Keltch Hired as Mobility Specialist with the City of Louisville

Nathan Keltch (’20) has been hired as a mobility specialist with the Department of Public Works for the City of Louisville, Ky.

His responsibilities will include assisting in the coordination of Louisville Metro’s bicycle and pedestrian transportation programs, identifying and resolving community issues, and assisting in budgeting of facility modifications.

“I knew that I wanted to work for a city government on planning and community engagement, preferably in a mid-sized city,” Keltch said. “I was lucky enough to find an online listing for the position and really clicked with the team during the interview process.”

For his International Public Service Project, Keltch traveled to Bangalore, India to work with researchers on governance issues surrounding employment programs at the Public Affairs Centre, a nonprofit dedicated to improving the quality of governance in India.

His final Capstone project developed a program and evaluation plan for a three-day summer school hosted at the Indian Institute of Science in Bengaluru, India. The plan utilized problem-based learning to assist students, professional transportation researchers, in gaining insight into their future work.

Keltch said he leaned heavily on his coursework in Program Planning and Evaluation while pursuing his position with the City of Louisville. He was able to draw on his Capstone coursework, which included studying urban governance issues in India.

Keltch served as the director of Recycle Bikes for Kids, a North Little Rock nonprofit, before enrolling at the Clinton School. Additionally, he was a member of the Bicycle Friendly Community Committee and a board member at Bicycle Advocacy of Central Arkansas.

In addition to his Master of Public Service, Keltch earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration at UA Little Rock.
